High impact Android tips
1. Boost Speed & Responsiveness
Speed Up System Animations: Make your phone feel twice as fast instantly.
Go to Settings > About phone and tap Build number 7 times until it says "You are now a developer".
Go back to main Settings, open System > Developer options.
Scroll down to Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale, and change all three from
1xto0.5x.
Quick-Switch Apps Like a Pro: Swipe left or right horizontally across the very bottom navigation bar (or gesture handle) to instantly flip back and forth between your most recent apps without opening the full overview screen.
2. Typing & Text Shortcuts
Spacebar Trackpad Cursor: When typing a long message or editing text, press and hold down the Spacebar on the Gboard keyboard. Your keyboard turns into a trackpad, letting you slide your finger smoothly to place the cursor precisely where you want it.
Quick Clipboard History: If you copy multiple things consecutively, press the clipboard icon on your keyboard (or go to Gboard settings > Clipboard) to see everything you've copied recently—including text and screenshots—and paste items from hours ago.
3. Productivity & Convenience
Never Lose an Alert with Notification History: Accidentally swipe away an important notification? Never miss it again. Go to Settings > Notifications > Notification history and turn it on.
You can also add it as a quick-settings tile for one-swipe access. Share Wi-Fi Instantly via QR Code: Stop spelling out complex Wi-Fi passwords.
Go to your Wi-Fi settings, tap your connected network, and select Share. A QR code will display that any guest can scan with their phone camera to connect immediately. One-Handed Mode: If your screen is too large to reach the top corners with one hand, go to Settings > System > Gestures > One-handed mode (or search "one hand" in your settings) to enable a quick swipe-down gesture that drops the top half of the screen into thumb range.
4. Privacy & Battery Protection
Check Your Privacy Dashboard: Go to Settings > Privacy > Privacy Dashboard to see a clear timeline of which apps have accessed your location, camera, or microphone over the past 24 hours. Revoke permissions for any app that doesn’t genuinely need them.
Opt Out of Ad Tracking: Stop apps and advertisers from tracking your usage profile. Head to Settings > Google > Ads and enable Delete advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization.
